Located about 75 miles north of Boise near the town of Cascade, Y Camp at Horsethief Reservoir Family Camp and Retreats include everything you need for the perfect weekend getaway. Fees are inclusive of lodging, hearty and healthy meals prepared onsite, plus tons of awesome activities to bring your camp experience home.

Family Camp Information

Activities are planned for the whole family to enjoy together. You are welcome to join in on as much or as little of the group activities as you desire. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult to all activities. Activities offered include:

  • Archery
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Canoeing
  • Fishing
  • Mountain Biking
  • Rock Climbing
  • Swimming
  • Hiking
  • Zip Line (ages 9+ and must meet safety weight requirement of 75lbs – 275lbs)

During activity sessions, areas of camp are open and managed by our camp staff to allow families to try all that camp has to offer. There is simple instruction, and plenty of time for practice

Family camp registration includes an accommodation fee and an individual fee. Accommodation fees are for the full session and the entire space reserved. Individual fees are per person and include all meals and most activities.

Individual fees are per person and include all meals and most activities. All participants must be registered individually. Registration fee includes all meals from dinner on your first day to lunch on your last as well as programmed activities. Individual registrations require a deposit at the time of registration.

Accommodation options for family camp include cabins, yurts, platform tents or sites to pitch your own tent. Regardless of the option chosen, space is yours to fill as you wish – we do not assign families together in cabins or yurts for you. Accommodations will be reserved to only one family and that family is responsible for the full payment to the YMCA. Accommodation reservations may be made with a 50% deposit.

Cabins— Y Camp features 10 beautiful modern cabins in our Mountain and River villages, named for natural features throughout Idaho.  

  • 14 twin-sized bunk beds with mattresses (bedding not included) 
  • Electricity, heating, and outlets 
  • Modern bathroom inside with 2 toilet stalls, 2 sinks, and 2 showers 
  • Central fire pits for village use 

Yurts— Y Camp features 7 cozy yurts in our Bird and Fish villages, named for animals found in Idaho 

  • 12 twin-sized bunk beds with mattresses (bedding not included) 
  • Electricity, heating, and outlets 
  • Yurt campers use a shared bathroom and shower house about 20 yards away (separate men’s/women’s sides) 
  • Central fire pit for village use 

Platform Tents— Y camp features 4 rustic platform tents available for use during programs that fall on dates between Memorial Day and Labor Day 

  • 10 twin-sized bunk with mattresses (bedding not included) 
  • Elevated wooden platform base with canvas tent 
  • Platform Tent campers us a shared bathroom and shower house about 50 yards away (separate men’s/women’s sides) 
  • Central fire pit for village use

Campsites— Y Camp features several private campsites available for families to bring their own tents to camp in for the weekend for dates between Memorial Day and Labor Day 

  • Private, flat space to camp 
  • Private picnic table and fire pit  
  • Tent campers use a shared bathroom and shower house (separate men’s/women’s sides) 
  • Families bring their own tents to sleep in 

All meals are included and prepared onsite by our camp chefs and kitchen team and are served buffet style so that you can eat anytime during the hour for meals. Sample menu below is an example of typical meals and may vary by season or camp.  

The first meal is dinner on Friday evening, with lunch on Sunday (or Monday for holiday camps) as the last meal served. Accommodations for food allergies/dietary needs can always be made as long as we know of the request in advance.  

Y Camp is a Nut-Free Zone. In consideration of others, please do not bring nut products or anything containing nut oil to camp.
