Join us in building the magic of Y Camp!
Stunning wilderness and beautiful facilities alone couldn’t make Y Camp the place that so many see as a home away from home. Here at the YMCA Camp at Horsethief Reservoir, the magic of making friends, exploring interests, and finding inner strength is woven into every interaction. Being a part of Y Camp is as simple as committing to loving nature, building character, and developing self-reliance in yourself and those around you. If you’re up for the challenge, we can’t wait to connect with you!
Junior Counselors at Y camp at Horsethief Reservoir are those who have completed the Counselor in Training program, or have equivalent leadership experience, and will be 17 years old by this summer. This is a volunteer position that requires a minimum of a 2-week commitment AND a week of staff training. Junior Counselors will live in cabins alongside Senior Counselors and will model the core values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
If you would like to develop your leadership skills and impact the lives of campers, please follow the link to the application.
Y Camp Nurses coordinate with our Health Center Lead during a week-long session of Summer Resident Camp to ensure the health and safety of all campers on the Horsethief Reservoir Y Camp campus. Nurses will use their professional knowledge and experience to complete daily duties like administering medication, first aid, and tending to any injuries or illnesses that may come up in the course of a session’s duration. Camp Nurses can choose one of our nine week-long sessions to work in exchange for 100% tuition coverage for one camper. Y camp requires one RN volunteer each week, and the second volunteer can be a CNA, LVN, LPN, or EMT. We require proof of your certifications as well as CPR certification.
In addition to completing an interview process, you will need to complete a Volunteer Matters profile. Here, you must upload a photo ID, complete a background check, a child abuse prevention course, and submit three references (two professional and one family member.)
If you would like to care for children in the exciting and nurturing environment of Y camp, please contact Libby Hansen, Camp Registrar for further information.
At the Y, we welcome everyone whose behavior adheres to our core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
We advance our cause by building a stronger and more equitable community where everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, thrive, and reach their full potential with dignity.
The Y is a force for building bridges among all people–regardless of ability, age, birthplace, cultural background, ethnicity, faith, gender, gender identity, ideology, income, race, or sexual orientation.
The Y is for all.
